San Juan Island, Washington. Looking Northwest to Vancouver Island, Canada. Cool, semi rainy summer sunset. It's called Lime Kiln because they used to mine lime here, quite an interesting history. This has been a remarkably popular photo. Something different among all the standard lighthouse photographs.

North Oregon Coast. Over a mile from shore on a small rock island. Built year round in 1880 - 81. Consistently and violently hit by storms. Waves crash over it, and sometimes boulders and logs. Men lived and worked here until 1957. Very hardcore, but it serves it's purpose well. Truly one of the most remarkable lighthouses in the world.
